My Unfair Advantage Resources:
-Demographic
My app is designed to target college students. Luckily for us we are in a market with loads of people in that age group.
-Access
Normally rare. The amount of bars that I am looking to place my product is helpful thanks to a great bar scene in the city.
-Involvement
Plenty of students have already reached out to me wanting to help. It is abundant
-Funds
Advertisements paid by bars is slim but prevalent in Gainesville.
-Employees
Until we begin to expand we do not need an abundant amount of workers for the app.
-Social Capital
It certain areas this is large and concentrated like it would be in Gainesville.
-Capabilities
For me and my app it is simple to place cameras and get bars on board.
-Culture
We are changing the way people look at the bar scene. Items like this on the app store are limited.
-Location
Starting the app in Gainesville, FL looking to expand to cities such as Tallahassee and Orlando is a great breaking point.
-Human Capital
It will help me that i need limited amounts of employees.
My most valuable resource is my demographic and location. People around this area have been wanting something like this. It can be a springboard for my company.
I'm impressed by how many different perspectives I'm seeing on this VRIN analysis! You can check out my post here: http://adventuresinent.blogspot.com/2016/03/my-unfair-advantage-or-ha-ha_21.html--you'll note that I didn't mention my demo being an unfair advantage, but now that I've read your post I think it is!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like even if you did need employees, you have a good pool of people to choose from and could even exploit some unpaid interns. I agree Florida is a good market for your app, but expanding out to other major metropolitan areas and college towns would have to be in your future plans. I imagine you could initiate a college ambassador program? Have a team of students that work to roll out the app in their area.
That being said, your unfair advantage may be how unlimited your options are. You could scale things as big or small as you want and sell the business to someone who could handle expansion. Thumbs up!
Hey Benjamin, I think your product is really cool and would definitely be utilized. I wasn't originally assigned to comment on your blog but the person I was assigned removed their blog from the internet. Anyway, I think you did a great job with this assignment and I have a very good understanding as to how your product is unique and will be successful.
